We save ex-commercial laying hens from slaughter and rehome them into loving back gardens — where they feel sunlight on their feathers, often for the very first time.
It's easy to show a little love in a cruel world.
When commercial laying hens reach around 72 weeks old, they're considered "spent" and sent to slaughter — even though they can live another five years or more. We step in at that final moment, collect hens directly from farms, and rehome them with vetted keepers who give them what they've never had: freedom, fresh air, dust baths and a name.
We work directly with farms to collect hens that would otherwise be culled — often hundreds at a time, coordinated entirely by volunteers.
Every hen and rooster is matched with a vetted keeper who understands their needs. No garden too small, no commitment too modest.
We share honest stories about modern egg production, hatching eggs, and equip the next generation of keepers to give hens full, natural lives.
A monthly sponsorship feeds, shelters and cares for the hens we cannot rehome — the disabled, the unwell, and those who need permanent sanctuary. Set it up once via direct debit, and you'll know you're keeping someone safe every single day.

We're 100% volunteer-run, which means nearly every pound you give goes directly into fuel for the rescue van, veterinary care, feed, and the infrastructure that keeps hens safe through their first weeks of freedom.
You don't need a smallholding — a secure garden, a coop, and a little daily time is enough. Here's how adoption works:
Tell us about your setup: garden size, coop plans, daily routine. It's a conversation, not a test. A valid flock number will be required.
A volunteer walks you through everything — from first-week care to feed, bedding, and common health questions.
You collect your hens from our collection point in Moira. Typical commitment: 3–6 hens, with a £10 donation per hen.
We're here for the life of your hens — questions, feather regrowth updates, or the inevitable garden photos.
Rescue days, cleaning coops, feeding, social media, vet liaison, fostering — we need help with all of it. No experience necessary, only reliability and care.
